Camp Emerald Bay; Catalina Island; Los Angeles, California: This camp is well known for its wide range of aquatics offerings. The traditional summer camp option (merit badges, various troop activities) includes activity offerings across the following program areas: Ecology and Conservation, Scoutcraft, Field Sports, Aquatics, Handicraft, and Marine Science. All traditional summer camp participants will have the opportunity to paddle an 8-person canoe to Parson's Beach for an overnight stay, among other troop activities. Emerald Bay also offers the following add-on programs: Rugged Adventurers (Age 14+), PADI SCUBA certification (Age 12+), Lifeguard certification (Age 15+) and Sailing ASA 110 Certification (Age 13+). Each of these add-on programs will incur additional fees. A ferry ride is required to reach Camp Emerald Bay. Departure is 7 AM Sunday (July 20), thus requiring an additional overnight stay in Los Angeles prior to ferry departure. We plan to stay overnight on the USS Iowa Battleship (https://pacificbattleship.com/), located near the ferry departure point. Estimated total cost for this camp is $1800-$2100 ($1025/scout base traditional summer camp fee; additional fees apply for add-on programs), $400-$500 flights to Los Angeles (LAX, likely), $100/scout Battleship Iowa overnight accommodations, and $200-$400 bus travel/incidentals).
