Troop 505 is bound for Camp Emerald Bay in Summer 2025! Mark your calendars for July 19-26, 2025.

The initial deposit of $150/scout or adult is due Wednesday, November 20. This initial deposit is refundable through January 7, 2025. On that date, the first installment $250/scout or adult is due, and this initial deposit becomes non-refundable.

See below for Traditional Summer Camp Fee Payment Schedule:

January 7, 2025: Your initial $150 deposit becomes non-refundable and will go toward your Logistics Fees and/or Final Traditional Summer Camp Fee Installment; additional $250/scout or adult is due (non-refundable)
March 4, 2025: $250/scout or adult is due (non-refundable)
May 13, 2025: Final Traditional Summer Camp Fee Installment payment of $225 (adults) and $375 (scouts) is due (non-refundable) - these payments are ESTIMATED and will be adjusted to reflect the actual, all-in cost per scout/adult.

For scouts interested in add-on camp programs (Rugged Adventurers (Age 14+), PADI SCUBA certification (Age 12+), Lifeguard certification (Age 15+) and Sailing ASA 110 Certification (Age 13+)), these opportunities are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability, age requirements, and timely payment of additional fees (beyond the Traditional Summer Camp Fee Schedule outlined above). Additional information regarding add-on programs will be provided as we receive details from Camp Emerald Bay.

Logistics Fee (bus, group travel/food, incidentals) will be assessed once plans have been finalized. Additional logistics-related information/costs will be provided after January 8, 2025.

Questions? Reach out to Ethan Perry (perrye475@yahoo.com).

Camp Emerald Bay; Catalina Island; Los Angeles, California: This camp is well known for its wide range of aquatics offerings. The traditional summer camp option (merit badges, various troop activities) includes activity offerings across the following program areas: Ecology and Conservation, Scoutcraft, Field Sports, Aquatics, Handicraft, and Marine Science. All traditional summer camp participants will have the opportunity to paddle an 8-person canoe to Parson's Beach for an overnight stay, among other troop activities. Emerald Bay also offers the following add-on programs: Rugged Adventurers (Age 14+), PADI SCUBA certification (Age 12+), Lifeguard certification (Age 15+) and Sailing ASA 110 Certification (Age 13+). Each of these add-on programs will incur additional fees. A ferry ride is required to reach Camp Emerald Bay. Departure is 7 AM Sunday (July 20), thus requiring an additional overnight stay in Los Angeles prior to ferry departure. We plan to stay overnight on the USS Iowa Battleship (https://pacificbattleship.com/), located near the ferry departure point. Estimated total cost for this camp is $1800-$2100 ($1025/scout base traditional summer camp fee; additional fees apply for add-on programs), $400-$500 flights to Los Angeles (LAX, likely), $100/scout Battleship Iowa overnight accommodations, and $200-$400 bus travel/incidentals).
